Separate Center Roof Paneling - Ar65.10-P-1000-02FRX

Model 290 except code 397 (Carbon roof) except code 416 (Panoramic sunroof)

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on model 290 except code 414 (Sliding sunroof).

Additional information can be found in the superordinate service document.

The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.

  1. SPECIAL TOOL Insert set of spacer blocks at undamaged side between center roof paneling (1) and side roof paneling and adjust dimension.

    IMPORTANT So that the center roof paneling (1) can be adapted with the adjusted SPECIAL TOOL set of spacer blocks when installing.

  2. Mark position of the SPECIAL TOOL set of spacer blocks on the vehicle and dimensions.
  3. Determine dimensions from outer edge of center roof paneling (1) to outer edge of front and rear roof rack.
  4. Mark positions of measuring points on vehicle and note dimensions.
  5. Expose spot welds on center roof paneling (1) and cut off (areas A, B).
  6. Expose spot welds on center roof paneling (1) and drill out with ø 6.5 mm (areas C).

  7. Expose spot welds on center roof paneling (1) and cut off (area D).

  8. Cut adhesive bondings of center roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas E, F).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  9. Heat center roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas E, F).

    NOTES Do not exceed a temperature of 120°C.

    Otherwise the structure of the adhesive areas below can change.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  10. Cut adhesive bondings of center roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (area G).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  11. Remove center roof paneling (1).

  12. Remove residual adhesive material from roof frame (areas H).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  13. Coat damaged points with primer.
  14. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in remaining crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  15. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  16. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas J).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  17. Remove residual adhesive material from roof frame (areas K).
