Front Longitudinal Member Section Separation - Ar62.20-P-1260-01FR
Model 257, 290
The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 257. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
Additional information can be found in the superordinate service document.
The safety information in the superordinate service document must be observed.
- Expose spot weld on longitudinal member front section (1) and cut out (area A).
- Mark separating points for coarse cut on longitudinal member front section (1) and cut (areas B, C).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
b = approx. 20 mm
c = approx. 55 mm
- Remove longitudinal member front section (1).
Operation steps 4, 5 are described and shown on the Celette straightening system. When reusing other approved straightening systems must be used in the same manner.
- Set up straighteners (2, 3) with multi-Z towers.
Do not screw multi-Z-towers to straightening bench support member
- Secure longitudinal member front section new part (1) on straighteners (2, 3) and position on inside of body.
When positioning body, ensure that the holes in the multi-Z towers are aligned in the holes of the straightening bench support members.
Otherwise the separating point cannot be marked correctly.
- Mark separating point on inside of body (area D).
Use longitudinal member front section new part (1) as cutting template.
Operation steps 7, 9 are described and shown on the Celette straightening system. When reusing other approved straightening systems must be used in the same manner.
- Position longitudinal member front section new part (1) with straighteners (2, 3) on outside of body.
When positioning body, ensure that the holes in the multi-Z towers are aligned in the holes of the straightening bench support members.
Otherwise the separating point cannot be marked correctly.
- Mark separation point on outside of body (area E).
Use longitudinal member front section new part (1) as cutting template.
- Remove longitudinal member front section new part (1) and straighteners (2, 3) with multi-Z towers.
- Cut off remaining section on old part of longitudinal member front section at marked separating points.
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust.
