Location

The rear door control units are located on the corresponding door module behind the door trim.

Task

The rear door control units have the following tasks:

Reading in of sensors and signals
Evaluation of input factors
Actuation of components
Transmitting signals

Reading in of sensors and signals

The input factors are read in via the following connections:

Direct line
Left rear door LIN (LIN B9) (Left rear door control unit (with code 872 (Seat heating in rear)))
Right rear door LIN (LIN B10) (Right rear door control unit (with code 872 (Seat heating in rear)))
Interior CAN (CAN B)

Direct line

The left rear door control unit reads in the signals from the following components over direct lines:

Left rear door power closing microswitch actuator motor (A85/3s1) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Left rear door main catch microswitch (A85/3s2)
Left rear door inside door handle microswitch (A85/3s3) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Left rear door external operation microswitch (A85/3s4) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Left rear door power closing microswitch (M14/23s1) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Left rear power window switch (S213)

The left rear door control unit reads in the signals from the following components over direct lines:

Right rear door precatch microswitch (A85/4s1) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Right rear door main catch microswitch (A85/4s2)
Right rear inside door handle microswitch (A85/4s3) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Right rear door external operation microswitch (A85/4s4) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Right rear door power closing actuator motor microswitch (M14/24s1) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))
Right rear power window switch (S214)

Left rear door LIN (Left rear door control unit (with code 872 (Seat heating in rear)))

The left rear door control unit reads in the signals of the left rear seat heating switch (S51/3s1) in the left rear seat climate control switch group (S51/3) via the left rear door LIN.

Right rear door LIN (Right rear door control unit (with code 872 (Seat heating in rear)))

The right rear door control unit reads in the signals of the right rear seat heating switch (S51/4s1) in the right rear seat climate control switch group (S51/4) via the right rear door LIN.

Interior CAN

The rear door control units read in the following signals, among others, via the interior CAN:

Terminal status of terminal 15
Central locking system unlocking/locking request
PRE-SAFE® adjustment request
Convenience feature request

Evaluation of input factors

The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components

The following components are actuated by the left rear door control unit via direct lines:

Left rear door central locking motor (A85/3m1)
Left rear door additional door lock actuator motor (A85/3m4) (with code (885) Increased theft protection)
Left rear door exit lamp (E17/5) (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting))
Left rear door warning lamp (E17/20) (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting))
Left rear door outer door handle illumination (E17/23) (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))
Left rear door pocket lighting (E23/3) (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting))
Left rear door power window motor (M105)
Left rear door power closing actuator motor (M14/23s1) (with CODE 883 (Power closing))

The left rear door control unit supplies the switch illumination (circuit 58d) with power.

The left rear door control unit supplies the following component parts of the ambient lighting (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting)) with power:

Left rear door ambiance illumination (E17/45)
Left rear door door handle ambient lighting (E17/57)

The following components are actuated by the right rear door control unit via direct lines:

Right rear door central locking motor (A85/4m1)
Left rear door additional door lock actuator motor (A85/4m4) (with code (885) Increased theft protection)
Right rear door exit lamp (E17/6) (with code 891 (Premium ambient lighting))
