General
The antennas are located at various positions around the vehicle depending on the function and task involved.
Function
The antennas are connected to the respective control units, antenna splitters, amplifiers and receivers depending on the function, equipment and body form.
Telephone antennas connection
The driver's side telephone antenna and the front passenger side telephone antenna are connected to the telephone antenna splitter. Depending on the vehicle equipment, the antenna connection for telephony and stationary heater may differ:
- Vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) or with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) or
with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
Directly to the telephone control unit, mobile phone cradle control unit or to stationary heater radio remote control receiver via the telephone antenna splitter
- Vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) or with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) and
with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
To the telephone control unit or to the mobile phone cradle control unit and to the stationary heater radio remote control receiver via the telephone antenna splitter and the telephone and stationary heater radio remote control antenna changeover switch
- Vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) and with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) without
code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
To the telephone control unit or to the mobile phone cradle control unit via the telephone antenna splitter and the telephone antenna changeover switch
- Vehicles with code 380 (Car telephony package) and with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) and
with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating):
- To the stationary heater radio remote control receiver via the telephone antenna splitter and the telephone and stationary heater radio remote control antenna changeover switch
- To the telephone control unit or the mobile phone cradle control unit via the telephone antenna splitter and the telephone and stationary heater radio remote control antenna changeover switch and the telephone antenna changeover switch
On vehicles with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna), the antenna signal to the mobile phone cradle control unit is amplified by the mobile radio antenna amplifier/compensator.
Emergency call system antennas connection
The emergency call system antenna 1 is connected directly to the telematics services control unit.
The driver's side telephone antenna and the front passenger side telephone antenna are connected to the telematics services control unit via the telephone antenna splitter.
The telephone antenna splitter is designed as a double antenna splitter in vehicles with emergency call system and with code 380 (Car telephony package), with code 899 (Wireless telephone charging at front and antenna) or with code B24 (Remote control for auxiliary heating).
GPS antenna connection
Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following GPS antenna connections are possible:
- Vehicles with code 362 (HERMES - LTE communication module) without
code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit):
Directly to the telematics services control unit
- Vehicles with code 362 (HERMES - LTE communication module) with
code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit):
The GPS antenna signal is forwarded to the multimedia system by a GPS splitter integrated into the telematics services control unit.
- Vehicles without code 362 (HERMES - LTE communication module) but with code 355 (Pre-installation for navigation retrofit):
Directly to multimedia system control
Rear window antennas connection
The antennas in the rear window are connected via the following antenna amplifiers:
- FM, AM, CL, DAB and KEYLESS-GO antenna amplifier
- FM 2, DAB and TV 2 antenna amplifier
- TV 1 antenna amplifier
Windshield antennas connection
The antennas in the windshield are connected via the TV 3 antenna amplifier.
