General information
The WSS/weight classification control unit uses sensors or a sensor mat to determine the weight applied on a seat and sends the determined values also to the restraint system control unit for precise control of the deployment stages of the airbag.
Function
The WSS/weight classification control unit determines the weight on the front passenger seat by means of a pressure measurement in a silicone-filled seat mat.
The WSS/weight classification control unit reads in the signals of the WSS sensor directly and sends them to the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit, the drivetrain control unit and/or the telematics services communication module, depending on the equipment installed.
