	Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.	Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone.	AS49.00-Z-0001-01A

	Remove
1	Remove lower center and rear Engine compartment lining.		AR61.20-P-1105ME
2	Remove the rear Engine support.	Engine 176 in model 167	AR22.10-P-4360MNO
		Engine 177 in model 167	AR22.10-P-4360MNP
3	Remove screw (7).	Engine 176 in model 167 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) Perform operation step at both gasoline particulate filters.
4	Remove union nuts (8), seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs and place pressure lines (9) to one side.	Engine 176 in model 167 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system) Perform operation step at both gasoline particulate filters.

5	Remove clamps (2).
6	Release, disconnect electrical connector (5) and remove wiring harness from center exhaust system (1).	Engine 177 in model 167 with code U78 (AMG sports exhaust system)
7.1	Release clamps at separating points (x1).	If installed.
7.2	Perform repair cut at separating points (x1) of exhaust system.	If no clamps are present.
8	Support rear muffler (3).

9	Remove bolts (4) and lower center exhaust system (1) in front area and remove.	Aid of helper required.
	Install
10	Deburr separating points (x1).	In case of removal with repair cuts.
11	Remove combustion and corrosion residues.
12	Check elastomer bearings (6) for damage.	If the elastomer bearings (6) are damaged, ↓ Replace corresponding elastomer bearings (6).

13	Position center exhaust system (1) on vehicle and screw in bolts (4).	Aid of helper required.

14	Attach clamps for separating points (x1).	Replace clamps.

15	Remove major assembly mount and mounting plate from rear muffler (3).

16	Install wiring harness at center exhaust system (1), connect electrical connector (5) and lock.	Engine 177 in model 167 with code U78 (AMG sports exhaust system)
17	Install clamps (2).	Replace clamps (2).

18	Remove stop plugs, position pressure lines (9) and attach union nuts (8).	Engine 176 in model 167 with code 598 (Gasoline particulate filter (OPF) with sensor system)

		Perform operation step at both gasoline particulate filters.

	Check
21	Check installation position and unobstructed movement of exhaust system and correct if necessary.
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
22	Perform Engine test run; check Engine for proper operation and check exhaust system for leak tightness.
23	Install bottom center and rear Engine compartment paneling.		AR61.20-P-1105ME
