The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

- Mark and cut separating point on cover plate (2) (area A).
Do not cut too deeply.
Otherwise the components behind can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose spot welds at striker plate (2) and cut off (areas B).
- Expose self-pierce rivets on cover plate (2) and drill out with Ø 6 mm (areas C).

- Heat cover plate (2) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove striker plate (2).
- Expose spot welds at bracket and drill off with Ø 6.5 mm (areas E).
- Expose spot weld at bracket and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm (area F).
- Expose spot weld at bracket and cut off (area G).
- Remove bracket.
- Expose spot welds at body and drill off with Ø 6.5 mm (areas H).
Common spot welds on panels located one behind the other must be drilled off through two panel thicknesses.
- Expose spot welds at mounting support (4) and cut off through two panel thicknesses (areas I).
- Expose self-pierce rivets at longitudinal member connecting part (3) and drill out with Ø 6 mm (area J1 ).
- Expose spot welds at longitudinal member connecting part (3) and drill out (areas J2 ).
- Expose spot welds at longitudinal member connecting part (3) and cut off (areas K).
- Heat longitudinal member connecting part (3) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove longitudinal member connecting part (3).
- Expose self-pierce rivets at rear longitudinal member (1) and drill out with Ø 6 mm (areas L).
- Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear longitudinal member (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas M).
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
- Apply zinc dust paint to mating surfaces in cross-hatched areas.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas M).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (area N).
- Apply zinc dust paint to mating surfaces in cross-hatched areas.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area N).
Weld point may not be coated with zinc dust paint (area O).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
