The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 167.1. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Drill through spot welds on the bracket (1.1) with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area A).
- Take off the bracket (1.1).
The bracket (1.1) will be reused.
- Mark separating point on upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut (area B).
Dimensions :
b = approx. 77 mm.
- Grind mating surfaces on upper front longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind the mating surface down to bare metal from the rear (area D).
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind the mating surfaces on the striker plates (2, 4) down to bare metal in the cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
- Mark the separating point on the strut (3) and cut (area E).
Transfer separating point from vehicle.
- Grind the strut (3) down to bare metal in the cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on inside (area G).
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Bonding surfaces must not be coated with zinc dust paint (areas F, G).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
