Upper Front Longitudinal Member Partial Removal - Ar62.20-P-1287-01ME

The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 167.1. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose solder seam at striker plate (2) and cut off (area A).
- Expose spot welds at striker plate (2) and cut off (areas B).
- Remove striker plate (2).
- Mark separating point on strut (3) and cut (area L).
- Expose spot welds on strut (3) and cut out (areas C).
- Heat strut (3) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove strut (3).
- Expose and separate solder seams on striker plate (4) (area D).
- Expose spot welds on striker plate (4) and cut off (areas E).
- Remove striker plate (4).
- Expose spot welds on bracket (1.1) and cut off (area F).
- Take off the bracket (1.1).
- Mark the separating point on the upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut (area G).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions :
g = approx. 77 mm.
- Expose spot welds on the upper front longitudinal member (1) and cut off (areas H, K).
- Bend open sheet metal lug (arrow).
- Heat upper front longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove upper front longitudinal member (1).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas M).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas N).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
