IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on component parts on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

Shown on model 167.1 except code M176 (V8spark ignition engine M176), except code M177 (V8spark ignition engine M177 -AMG) and except code ME05 (hybrid drive 85 kW-94 kW - variant (incl. plug-in))

Shown on model 167.1 with code M177 (V8spark ignition engine M177 - AMG) 

  1. Grind weld studs (3) on the longitudinal member front section (1) down flat.
  2. Grind mating surfaces at longitudinal member front section (1) and at end plate (2) down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  3. Remove grinding dust.
  4. Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.

    Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area P).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
