REMOVING Remove     
1 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
2 Remove cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir.   AR83.10-P-1411ME
3 Clean area around cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir. NOTES
Before opening the brake system, the area surrounding the connecting point must be clean.
Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
4 Unscrew cap of expansion reservoir for brake fluid and suction off some brake fluid using suitable means.    
5 Remove front left or right wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1102ME
6 Clean area on connecting point between brake line (6) and brake hose (1). NOTES
Before opening the brake system, the area surrounding the connecting point must be clean.
Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
7 Release and disconnect electrical connector (2) of right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2). On the right side of the vehicle.  
8 Remove screw (3) and place plug housing (4) to one side. On the right side of the vehicle.  
9 Unclip brake hose (6) from holder (9) (arrows).    
10 Unscrew screw (7, 8) and secure brake caliper (1) at vehicle free of tension.    
11 Unscrew screw (5), detach brake hose (6) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 1
12 Remove brakepads.   AR42.10-P-1610ME 
INSPECT Check     
13 Check brakepads for wear and condition.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4252J
    If there is a problem,

replace brake linings.
AR42.10-P-1610ME 
14 Check brake caliper (1) for damage. If the brake caliper (1) is damaged:

Replace brake caliper (1).
 
15 Check dust boots on brake piston for damage. If one or more dust boots are damaged:

Replace appropriate parts.
 
INSTALLING Install     
16 Install brakepads into brake caliper support.   AR42.10-P-1610ME 
    IMPORTANT Brake paste or other lubricants must not be applied to the brakepads.  
17 Remove stop plugs, attach brake hose (6) to brake caliper (1) and tighten screw (5)., TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake hose to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1001-04J

18 Tighten brake caliper (1) with screw (7) gently by hand, press brakepads onto brake disk by hand and slide brake caliper (1) onto brake disk. NOTES
Ensure that the dust boots of the brake pistons are not damaged.
Otherwise, there will be damage to the brake caliper (1) or the brake system will fail.
NOTES
Do not damage electrical line of right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2).
Otherwise, function of the right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2) is not guaranteed.
 
19 Tighten screws (7, 8). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Guide pin to brake caliper support *BA42.10-P-1002-10L 
20 Clip brake hose (6) into holder (9) (arrows).    
21 Tighten plug housing (4). On the right side of the vehicle.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, brake pad contact sensor to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1004-10L 
22 Connect electrical connector (2) of right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2). On the right side of the vehicle.
IMPORTANT Ensure correct routing of the electrical connector (2) of the right front brakepad wear sensor (S10/2).
 
23 Install front left or right wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1102ME
  Concluding tasks     
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
24 Operate brake pedal several times until the brakepads contact the brake disks. IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
25 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010ME 
26 Remove residue from brake fluid with water.    
27 Install cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir.   AR83.10-P-1411ME
28 Perform brake test on test stand.
