WARNING Risk of injury  due to fan starting unexpectedly Do not reach into the rotation or hazard area of the fan. Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes. AS20.40-Z-0001-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury  . Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray.
Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant.
Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

  Drain off     
1 Slowly unscrew cap from expansion reservoir and release overpressure.    
2 Remove center and all front bottom engine compartment linings.   AR61.20-P-1105ME
3 Remove oil cooler (5) at fan unit and place to one side with connected lines. Engine 256.9 in model 167 with transmission 725.0 AR27.55-P-1000MSC
4 Slide suitable drain hose onto drain fitting (4).    
5 Open drain cock (3) and collect escaping coolant in suitable container. IMPORTANT Open drain cock (3) only far enough for the coolant to flow out.  
6 Close drain cock (3) and remove drain hose from drain fitting (4).    
  Pour in     
7 Attach oil cooler (5) to fan unit. Engine 256.9 in model 167 with transmission 725.0 AR27.55-P-1000MSC
8 Connect vehicle diagnosis system and switch on ignition.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06ME
9 Start fill mode of engine cooling system.    
10 Pour in coolant and bleed engine cooling system.   AR20.00-P-1142-04OLC 
    NOTES Do not fill engine cooling system without activating fill mode.
Proper distribution of the coolant is otherwise not ensured.
 
    Test pressure for pressure-testing the engine cooling system *BE20.30-P-1005-01A

11 End fill mode of engine cooling system.    
12 Start bleeding routine of engine cooling system. IMPORTANT This involves actuating the coolant pumps to remove residual air from the engine cooling system.
If the bleeding routine was not completed successfully:

Repeat bleeding routine of engine cooling system.
 
13 Switch off ignition and disconnect diagnostic system.

14 Check engine cooling system for leak tightness.   AR20.00-P-1010MSC 
15 Install center and all front bottom engine compartment linings.   AR61.20-P-1105ME
