	Remove/install
1	Move brakepads (9) on rear axle into assembly position.		AR42.10-P-1710-01ME
		Do not operate the service brake while "Move to assembly position" is shown. Otherwise the spindle in the brake caliper (1) will be damaged. The hood must be closed.
2	Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).
3	Remove cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir.		AR83.10-P-1411ME
4	Clean area around cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir.	Before opening the brake system, the area surrounding the connecting point must be clean. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
		Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
5	Unscrew cap of expansion reservoir for brake fluid and drain off some brake fluid using suitable means.	This prevents the expansion reservoir for brake fluid from overflowing when the brake pistons are pushed back.
6	Remove right or left rear wheel and tire assembly.		AR40.10-P-1102ME
7	Release and disconnect electrical connector (2) from rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4).	On the right side of the vehicle.
8	Unscrew screw (4) and place coupling housing (2) of rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4) to one side.	On the right side of the vehicle.
		Screw/bolt, feed line for brake pad contact sensor to brake caliper	*BA42.10-P-1007-12L
9	Release and disconnect electrical connector at left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1) or right electric parking brake actuator (M76/2).
10	Clean area surrounding connecting point between brake hose (5) and brake caliper (1).	Before opening the brake system, the area surrounding the connecting point must be clean. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
		Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
11	Remove brake hose (5) from brake caliper (1) and seal exposed connections using suitable stop plugs.	Seal connections immediately to prevent damage caused by escaping brake fluid. The brake caliper (1) must not run empty. Otherwise, the brake caliper (1) must be replaced. Do not twist brake hose (5) and ensure that it is routed correctly. Otherwise the brake hose (5) will get damaged.
		Collect escaping brake fluid with suitable container.

12	Remove screw/bolts (3).	Screw/bolt, brake caliper to guide pin	*BA42.10-P-1004-12L
13	Remove brake caliper (1) from brake caliper support (11).	A new brake caliper (1) is shipped prefilled and must not be emptied. Otherwise the brake caliper (1) cannot be vented. Do not twist brake hose (5) and ensure that it is routed correctly. Otherwise the brake hose (5) will get damaged.
14	Remove left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1) or right electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/2).	If brake caliper (1) is replaced:

	Check
15	Check brake caliper (1) and dust boot on brake piston for leak tightness and damage.	If there is a problem, ↓ Replace brake caliper (1).
16	Check brake caliper support (11) for damage.	If there is a problem, ↓ Replace brake caliper support (11).	AR42.10-P-0221ME
17	Check guide pins (12) for damage and ease of movement.	If there is a problem, ↓ Replace brake caliper support (11).

18	Check brakepads (9) for wear and condition.

19	Check brake disk (10) for wear and condition.
		If there is a problem, ↓ Replace brake disks (10).	AP42.10-P-4256EW

	Clean
20	Clean contact surfaces of brakepads (9) at brake caliper (1) and at brake caliper support (11) using suitable means.	When doing so, do not damage boots of brake pistons and guide pins (12). Otherwise the brake caliper (1) or brake caliper support (11) must be replaced.
21	Install in the reverse order.

22	Bleed brake system.		AR42.10-P-0010ME
	Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
23	Operate brake pedal several times until brakepads (9) make contact with brake disks (10).	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
24	Perform brake test on test stand.
