	Remove
1	Move camshafts to basic position.		AR05.20-P-6010MSC
2	Remove rear cover from cylinder head.		AR01.30-P-5702MSC
3	Remove the camshaft positioner of the intake camshaft.		AR05.20-P-7206MSC
4	Remove camshaft positioner of exhaust camshaft.		AR05.20-P-7207MSC
	Adjust
5	Remove locating tool.	Locating tool	Fig 2
6	Turn intake and exhaust camshafts until marking (M) on pulse wheels is visible.	Socket wrench bit	Fig 3
7	Install locating tool.	Insert locating tool disassembled in service openings. If necessary, further turn camshafts with socket wrench socket until locating tool can be inserted.

	Install
8	Install camshaft positioner of exhaust/camshaft.		AR05.20-P-7207MSC
9	Install the camshaft positioner for the intake/camshaft.		AR05.20-P-7206MSC
10	Remove locating pin of retaining lock for crankshaft.	Adjustment tool	Fig 1

13	Turn engine in direction of engine rotation by two revolutions and set piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC.	Adjustment tool	Fig 1

14	Perform visual check through sensor openings at camshaft housing. The marking (M) on the pulse wheels must be visible.	If the marking (M) is not visible, the piston of cylinder 1 is not at ignition TDC.
15	Install locating pin of retaining lock for crankshaft.	Adjustment tool	Fig 1

16	Install locating tool.	Insert locating tool disassembled in service openings.
		Locating tool If locating tool can not be inserted: ↓ Repeat adjustment.	Fig 2

18	Install the service covers (61) of the intake and exhaust camshafts.	Do not damage the fuel high-pressure line when tightening the screws (60a, 60b). Leaks can occur otherwise.

19	Install rear cover on cylinder head.		AR01.30-P-5702MSC
20	Install Hall sensor of exhaust camshaft.		AR15.12-P-2147MSC
21	Install Hall sensor of intake camshaft.		AR15.12-P-2146MSC
		Only install upper engine cover after the leak test.
22	Remove retaining lock for crankshaft.	Do not install center and front lower engine compartment lining until after leak test.	AR03.30-P-5001MSC
	Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
23	Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leaktightness and leaktightness.
24	Install the center and front lower engine compartment paneling.		AR61.20-P-1105ME
25	Install upper engine cover.		AR01.10-P-2405MSC
