	Remove
1	Activate brakepad change mode.		AR42.10-P-1710-01ME
2	Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).
3	Remove cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir.
4	Clean area around cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir.	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
5	Unscrew cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid.	This prevents the expansion reservoir from overflowing when the brake pistons are pushed back.
6	Remove right or left rear wheel and tire assembly.		AR40.10-P-1102ME
7	Release and disconnect electrical connector from rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4).	On the right side of the vehicle.
8	Unscrew screw at coupling housing of rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4) and place coupling housing to one side.	On the right side of the vehicle.
9	Unscrew bolt (7).
10	Fold up brake caliper (3) and secure free of tension with connected lines at vehicle.	Do not tension or kink brake hose. Otherwise the brake hose may be damaged.
11	Remove brakepads (1, 2) from brake caliper support (6).
12	Remove retaining springs (4) from brake caliper support (6).
13	Pull rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4) out of backing plate of brakepad (2).	On the right side of the vehicle.
	Check
14	Check brakepads (1, 2) for wear and condition.

		In the event of a problem, ↓ Replace brakepads (1, 2) in sets.
15	Check rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4) for damage.	If there is damage to the rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4): ↓ Replace rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4).
16	Check brake disk for wear and condition.

		In the event of a problem, ↓ Replace brake disks in sets.	AR42.10-P-0240ME
	Clean
17	Clean contact surfaces of brakepads (1, 2) at brake caliper support (6) and at brake caliper (3).	Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. Otherwise the brake caliper (3), dust boot (13) at brake piston or the brake caliper support (6) may be damaged.

	Install
18	Install rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4) to backing plate of brakepad (2).	If brakepad (2) or rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4) is replaced.
19	Install retaining springs (4) into brake caliper support (6).
20	Install brakepads (1, 2).	Only complete sets of brakepads (1, 2) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Brake paste and other lubricants may not be applied to the brakepads (1, 2).
21	Press back brake piston using pusher tool (01).	If the removed brake caliper (3) is reinstalled.
		Resetting device If the brake piston is sluggish, ↓ Replace brake caliper (3).	Fig 2

22	Loosen brake caliper (3) from vehicle, fold down and tighten screw (7).	Screw/bolt, brake caliper to guide pin	*BA42.10-P-1004-12L
23	Tighten screw at coupling housing of rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4).	On the right side of the vehicle.
		Screw/bolt, feed line for brake pad contact sensor to brake caliper	*BA42.10-P-1007-12L
24	Connect electrical connector of rear right brakepad wear sensor (S10/4).	On the right side of the vehicle.
25	Install rear wheel and tire assembly.		AR40.10-P-1102ME
26	Seal cap of expansion reservoir for brake fluid
27	Install cover above brake fluid expansion reservoir.
28	Deactivate brakepad change mode.		AR42.10-P-1710-01ME
	Concluding tasks
	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
29	Operate brake pedal several times until the brakepads (1, 2) make contact with the brake disks.	Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
30	Check fluid level in brake fluid expansion reservoir and correct if necessary.

	Risk of death caused by limbs being caught or crushed by rotating parts when performing tests on the brake test stand	Never leave the vehicle unattended on the rollers except in an emergency. Ensure that no one is under the vehicle or near rotating parts during testing. In case of emergency, use the EMERGENCY OFF switch to shut down test stand.	AS42.00-Z-0001-01A
31	Perform brake test on test stand.
