  1. Install, fit, and fix in place the longitudinal member (2).
  2. Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas A, B).
  3. Drill rivet holes on the longitudinal member in the vehicle interior through the existing holes in the body with a diameter of 6.7 mm (area H).
  4. Remove longitudinal member.
  5. Deburr rivet holes on the longitudinal member and on the body on both sides.
  6. Remove drilling chips.
  7. Coat with zinc dust paint insides of those riveted joints that will not be bonded.

NOTES Do not apply zinc dust paint to bonding surfaces. Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes through present rivet holes in body (areas B).

  8. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

IMPORTANT Apply 2-component adhesive to the inside (areas C). The 2-component adhesive is partly stripped off in this area when the longitudinal member is installed, making it necessary to apply additional adhesive for compensation. Also apply 2-component adhesive to new part.

IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
