The side window in the driver door must be lowered during the curing time of the adhesive material.

Otherwise the windshield may be pushed outward by the resulting air pressure when the doors are closed.

The areas around the windshield must be masked off with suitable duct tape.

Otherwise there is a risk of damaging the vehicle paintwork when cutting out.

Work on windshield 

• If the repair is to be conducted correctly, approved materials and tools must always be used.

  The material characteristics of the recommended products effect the results of the work as well as the labor time required.

• Adhesive bonds are a part of the unibody construction. Always exercise particular care when performing work on bonded windows.

Windshield repair is permissible under the following conditions.

• Only damage on the outside window surface may be repaired.
• Damage to the inside of the windshield or to the plastic laminate is not permitted.
• Ensure that moisture has not penetrated into the damaged point (seal damaged point immediately after damage with transparent adhesive fabric tape and repair it as soon as possible).
• The diameter of the crater at the point of impact should not exceed 5 mm.
• Any radial cracks extending from the point of impact should not exceed 50 mm. They must not end at the adhesive bead and never reach to the outer edge of the window.
• The repair method can only be used when the damaged area is outside the driver's field of vision.
• The repair resin must be resistant to ultraviolet radiation.
• The repair point must be clean, free of grease and dry.
