INSPECT Check
1.1 Assess steel brake disks (1) for score marks, cracks, corrosion and soiling (e.g. oil, grease). Model 117, 118, 156, 164, 166, 167, 169, 171, 172, 176, 177, 203, 204, 207, 209, 211, 216, 219, 221, 230, 238, 242, 245, 246, 247, 251, 257, 292, 293, 453, 461, 463 Model 190, 197, 205, 212, 213, 217, 218, 222, 231, 253, 290 except code B07 (AMG - ceramic brake system)
Model 205 with code B07 (AMG - ceramic brake system) and steel brake disks on the rear axle
IMPORTANT For steel brake disks (1) with bores, assess crack length (x) including bore diameter.
If the crack length (x) is ≥ 25 mm (0.98 Inch) or if it extends up to the inner or outer edge of the friction ring, if there are gaping cracks or score marks deeper than 0.5 mm (0.02 Inch), or where pitted corrosion is present,

replace steel brake disks (1).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
If soiling (e.g. oil, grease) is present,

clean steel brake disks (1), and replace if necessary.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.

1.2 Assess ceramic brake disks (2) for damage and soiling (e.g. oil, grease).
Notes on evaluating brake disks
Model 190, 197, 205, 212, 213, 217, 218, 222, 231, 253, 290 with code B07 (AMG - ceramic brake system)
If the ceramic brake disks (2) are damaged or soiled,

replace ceramic brake disks (2).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
AH42.10-P-9406-07RQ
If, in exceptional cases, assessment of the ceramic brake disks (2) is not possible by means of a visual check,

check ceramic brake disks (2) for condition.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.

2.1 Assess steel brake disks (1) for wear. Model 117, 118, 156, 164, 166, 167, 169, 171, 172, 176, 177, 203, 204, 207, 209, 211, 216, 219, 221, 230, 238, 242, 245, 246, 247, 251, 257, 292, 293, 453, 461, 463 Model 190, 197, 205, 212, 213, 217, 218, 222, 231, 253, 290 except code B07 (AMG - ceramic brake system) Model 205 with code B07 (AMG - ceramic brake system) and steel brake disks on the rear axle Steel brake disks (1) with wear bores.
Notes on evaluating brake disks with and without wear holes   AH42.10-P-9406-14A
If outer wear bore (11), center wear bore (12) and the inner wear bore (13) are visible,

the steel brake disks (1) are OK; new brake pads can still be installed on the disks. If the inner wear bore (13) is visible,

the steel brake disks (1) are OK, the current brake pads can still be used, do not install any more new brake pads onto the steel brake disks (1).
If none of the three wear bores are visible,

replace steel brake disks (1).
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
If, in exceptional cases, assessment of the steel brake disks (1) is not possible by means of a visual check,

check steel brake disks (1) for condition.
