  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. See AS00.00-Z-0010-01A .

  Preparatory activity

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR
Lift vehicle with lifting platform. Model 171, 172, 197.3/4, 230, 231 Model 171, 172 See AR00.60-P-1000V .

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 231 AR00.60-P-1000TX
INSPECT Check     
2 Check visible components, lines, hoses on underfloor for damage, routing and leaks. IMPORTANT Steering, Spring elements, Shock absorber, Rear axle shaft boots, Underfloor paneling, Heat shields, Exhaust system, Exhaust aftertreatment, Brake system, Fuel system, Rear axle differential. If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
3 Check visible components, lines, hoses on underfloor for damage, routing and leaks. Equipment-dependent.
IMPORTANT Manual transmission, Clutch operation, Automatic transmission. If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
4 Check visible body panels for corrosion and deformation. IMPORTANT Wheel well body panels Front axle carrier, Rear axle carrier, Chassis steering arms, Underfloor body panels, Body reinforcements.
IMPORTANT Check rear axle carrier in area of welded-on mounting supports for thrust arm/tie rod for corrosion/perforation. If problems occur,

proceed in accordance with the country-specific regulations for mobility and body shell complaints.
 
5 Check vehicle underside for evidence of driving over obstacles or damage caused by contact with the vehicle underside. If it is suspected that obstacles have been driven over or bottoming damage has occurred,

check steering for mechanical damages. If the steering is mechanically damaged,

Replace steering for safety reasons. IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
