The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Grind mating surfaces on rear longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Grind mating surfaces on rear longitudinal member (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas A).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Grind mating surfaces on rear-end floor (2) down to bare metal on both sides in crosshatched areas.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
- Expose and cut off spot welds on end plate (3) (area B).
- Remove section from end plate (3).
- Cut off the plate protrusion on the end plate (3) (area D).
- Grind mating surfaces on end plate (3) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Grind mating surfaces on inside down to bare metal (area C).
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas C).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
