Rear Longitudinal Member Partial Removal - Ar64.20-P-1260-01ME

Model 167 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut it out (area A).
  2. Expose self-piercing riveting on rear longitudinal member (1) and drill with Ø 6 mm bit (area B).
  3. Expose inert gas welds on rear longitudinal member (1) and cut them out (area C).
  4. Expose spot welds on rear-end floor (2) and on striking plate (3) and cut them out (areas D and E).

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot weld from inside (area E).

  5. Expose spot welds on striking plate (3) and drill them with Ø 6 mm (area F).
  6. Expose self-pierce rivets on striking plate (3) and drill them with Ø 6 mm (area H).

  7. Heat end plate (3) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  8. Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  9. Remove the rear longitudinal member (1) together with the rear floor (2) and striking plate.

  10. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  12. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
