Rear End Center Assembly Cut Off (Model 167.9) - Ar64.20-P-1000-02MEX

IMPORTANT The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds on bottom rear-end center section (1) and cut out (areas A, B).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses (areas A).

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 2, 3, 4, 5 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed similarly on the right side of the vehicle.

  2. Expose spot welds on bottom rear-end center section (1) and cut out (areas C).

  3. Expose spot weld on bottom rear-end center section (1) and cut off (area B).
  4. Expose spot welds on the bottom rear-end center section (1) and drill through with a diameter of 6.5 mm (areas E,).
  5. Expose spot weld at the bottom rear-end center section (1) and drill out for plug welding with a diameter of 8 mm through two panel thicknesses (area E2 ).
  6. Remove bottom rear center section (1).

  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  9. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    IMPORTANT The following operation steps 10, 11, 12 are shown on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed similarly on the right side of the vehicle.

  10. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  12. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
