Remove/Install Brake Fluid Reservoir - AR42.10-P-0308ME

DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove cover (6) above brake fluid reservoir (1).   AR83.10-P-1411ME
2 Release and disconnect electrical connector (2).    
3 Clean area around cap (3) of brake fluid reservoir (1). NOTES
Before opening the brake system, the area surrounding the connecting point must be clean.
Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the brake system.
 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
4 Unscrew cap (3) and pull sieve out of brake fluid reservoir (1).    
5 Extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir (1).    
6 Unscrew bolt (4).    
7 Remove brake fluid reservoir (1) from master brake cylinder (5) and seal connections with suitable stop plugs. NOTES
Collect brake fluid which runs out with an absorbent rag.
Otherwise, the paint will be damaged.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 1
INSTALLING Install     
8 Remove stop plugs from connections and replace sealing rings between brake fluid reservoir (1) and master brake cylinder (5).    
9 Attach brake fluid reservoir (1) to master brake cylinder (5).    
10 Tighten down screw/bolt (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, brake fluid reservoir to master brake cylinder *BA42.10-P-1003-05H 
11 Fill brake fluid reservoir (1) with brake fluid.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4210E
12 Insert sieve into brake fluid reservoir (1) and screw on cap (3).    
13 Connect electrical connection (2).    
14 Check area around brake fluid reservoir (1) for leak tightness.    
  Concluding tasks     
15 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010ME 
    IMPORTANT Do not yet install cover (6).  
16 Remove residue from brake fluid with water.    
17 Install cover (6) above brake fluid reservoir (1)   AR83.10-P-1411ME
DANGER Risk of death  caused by limbs being caught or crushed by rotating parts when performing tests on the brake test stand Never leave the vehicle unattended on the rollers except in an emergency. Ensure that no one is under the vehicle or near rotating parts during testing. In case of emergency, use the EMERGENCY OFF switch to shut down test stand. AS42.00-Z-0001-01A 
18 Perform brake test on test stand.
