Partially Install Upper Front Longitudinal Member - Ar62.20-P-1287-03LW

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 205 and must be performed in the same way on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Install upper front longitudinal member (1), fit with welding device and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes on upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Drill rivet holes from inside through present hole in body (area B).

  3. Remove upper front longitudinal member (1) and welding device.
  4. Deburr drill holes on upper front longitudinal member (1) and body on both sides.
  5. Remove drilling chips.

  6. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  7. Install upper front longitudinal member (1), fit with welding device and fix in place.
  8. Rivet upper front longitudinal member (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas C and D).
  9. Upper front longitudinal member (1) POLARAIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area E).

  10. Upper front longitudinal member (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area F).

    IMPORTANT Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  11. Remove welding device.
  12. Grind inert gas weld down flat on upper front longitudinal member (1) (area F).

    IMPORTANT Grind down flat only in beaded areas and contact surfaces of strut.

  13. Install strut (2), fit and fix in place
  14. Drill rivet holes on strut (2) with 0 6.7 mm bit (areas G, H, I, J, K, L and M).
  15. Remove strut (2).
  16. Deburr rivet holes in strut (2) and body on both sides.
  17. Remove drilling chips.
  18. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G, H, J and L).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  19. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  20. Rivet strut (2) with 0 6.5x12.5 rivets (areas N, O, P and Q).
  21. Rivet strut (2) with 0 6.4x12 rivets (area R).
