The radial shaft seal has been vulcanized into the end cover (5) and it must not be removed.
Leaks can occur otherwise.
- Clean and degrease the crankcase (6) and oil pan (8) around the applied sealant and the crankcase flange contact surface (7).
- Clean and degrease sealing surface of new end cover (5).
- Apply sealant as a bead with a height and width of 2.0 mm (± 0.5 mm) to the crankcase (6) and oil pan (8).
Use approved sealant only. Do not spread the bead. Install the end cover (5) within 13 min of having applied the sealant. Leaks can occur otherwise.
- Insert the end cover (5) including radial shaft seal over the insertion tool (01) onto the insertion tool (02).
Leaks can occur otherwise.
- Pull off the insertion tool (01) from the insertion tool (02).
- Position the end cover (5) including radial shaft seal and insertion tool (02) on the contact surface (7a) and push it onto the crankcase flange (7) until the flange is in contact with the crankcase (6).
- Gradually tighten the screws (4) in a crosswise sequence

- Remove the insertion tool (02).
