General
To be able to use a washing facility without damage to the vehicle, the vehicle must be prepared for this. Activating the washing facility mode performs the necessary measures automatically.
Washing facility mode is not available in all vehicles. The functional scope depends on the equipment installed.
Function requirements
- Vehicle stops.
- Engine running.
Switching washing facility mode on/off and status display
Washing facility mode is switched on and off via a head unit menu. If the vehicle exceeds a speed of approx. 20 km/h, washing facility mode is automatically switched off.
The intended settings are shown on the central display. Similarly, the display indicates if one of the specified settings cannot be set.
Function overview
Preparation of the vehicle for the washing facility includes the following settings:
- Side windows and sliding sunroof closed.
- Outside mirror folded in.
- Rain sensor deactivated
- Rear window wiper deactivated.
- Air conditioning system in air-recirculation mode.
- Vehicles with PARKTRONIC: PARKTRONIC deactivated.
- Vehicles with electrically extendable running boards: running boards retracted.
- Vehicles with 360° camera: Front picture shown (after approx. 8 s).
- Vehicles with AIRMATIC or Active Body Control (ABC): Maximum suspension level.
If the maximum suspension level is not reached within approx. 25 s, a message is shown on the driver's display.
Switching off the washing facility mode encompasses the following procedures:
- The outside mirrors are folded out.
- The rain sensor is activated.
- The rear window wiper is activated.
- The air conditioning system switches to fresh air mode.
- Vehicles with PARKTRONIC: The PARKTRONIC is reset to the previously selected setting.
- Vehicles with 360° camera: The front picture is switched off as soon as a speed of approx. 18 km/h is reached.
- Vehicles with AIRMATIC or Active Body Control (ABC): The vehicle is lowered to the previously set suspension level.
The windows and the sliding sunroof remain closed; the electrically extendable running boards remain retracted.
