Front Longitudinal Member Section Install And Weld In - Ar62.20-P-1260-07MFX

MODIFICATION NOTES

07.01.2020 Method adapted.    

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 247.6. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install longitudinal member front section (1), fit and fix in place using straightener.
  2. Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member front section (1) with Ø 6.7 mm through existing holes in body (area A).
  3. Drill holes for plug welding in longitudinal member front section (1) with Ø 7.0 mm through one panel thickness (areas F).
  4. Remove longitudinal member front section (1) using straightener.
  5. Deburr rivet holes on longitudinal member front section (1) and on body on both sides (area A).
  6. Remove drilling chips.
  7. Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.

  8. Apply 2-component adhesive on body in cross-hatched areas (areas E).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  9. Install and fix in place longitudinal member front section (1) using straightener.
  10. Rivet longitudinal member front section (1) with rivets Ø 6.5x12.5 (area B).
  11. Longitudinal member front section (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas C).
  12. Longitudinal member front section (1) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (areas G).

  13. Longitudinal member front section (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area D).

    IMPORTANT Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.

  14. Remove straightener.
