Remove/Install Boots On Front Axle Shaft - AR33.30-P-0690MFA

Model 118, 177, 247

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove left or right front axle shaft (7).   AR33.30-P-0620MFA 
DISASSEMBLING Disassemble     
2 Remove clamps (9a, 9b) using a suitable tool.    
3 Clamp left or right front axle shaft (7) in vise. NOTES Do not damage contact surfaces of radial shaft sealing rings.
Otherwise leaks may occur.
IMPORTANT Use soft vise jaws.
 
4 Cut open boot (9) and remove.    
5 Drive constant-velocity joint (10) with constant velocity joint hub (10a) (arrow) off front axle shaft (7). NOTES Place match marks on all parts before removing constant-velocity joint (10).
Otherwise, if they are assigned differently during installation noise will be generated along with increased wear.
IMPORTANT Use suitable drift (steel).
To avoid any injuries and damage, make sure that front axle shaft (7) does not fall down.
 
6 Remove retaining ring (7b) from front axle shaft (7).    
CLEAN Clean     
7 Clean constant-velocity joint (10). Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
INSPECT Check     
8 Disassemble constant-velocity joint (10), check for wear and assemble.   AR33.30-P-0660-03AK 
ASSEMBLING Assemble     
9 Slide clamp (9a) onto front axle shaft (7). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace clamp (9a).  
10 Slide boot (9) onto front axle shaft (7). IMPORTANT Replace boot (9).  
11 Fill constant-velocity joint (10) with grease up to upper edge of constant-velocity joint hub (10a).    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Long-life grease (NLGI grade 2)   BB00.40-P-0266-02A
12 Attach new retaining ring (7b) at front axle shaft (7).    
13 Slide constant-velocity joint (10) onto front axle shaft (7).    
14 Fill boot (9) and constant-velocity joint (10) with rest of grease.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Long-life grease (NLGI grade 2)   BB00.40-P-0266-02A
15 Slide boot (9) onto constant-velocity joint (10).    
16 Fasten clamps (9a, 9b). NOTES
Dimension "X" must be ≤ 2.5 mm.
Otherwise, leaks may occur at boot.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace clamp (9b).

17 Install left or right front axle shaft (7).   AR33.30-P-0620MFA
