Rear Longitudinal Member Section Installation - Ar64.20-P-1260-03MFF

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Install longitudinal member (2), fit with straightener, and fix in place.
  2. Drill rivet holes on the longitudinal member (2) with a diameter of 6.7 mm through the existing holes in the body (area A).
  3. Remove longitudinal member (2).
  4. Deburr rivet holes at longitudinal member (2) and body on both sides.
  5. Remove drilling chips.

  6. Install longitudinal member (2) with straightener and fix in place.
  7. Rivet longitudinal member (2) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 mm (area B1 ).
  8. Longitudinal member (2) SHIELDED GAS PLUG WELD (areas B2 ).
  9. Surface grind plug spot welds on the longitudinal member (2) (areas B2 ).

  10. Install left rear-end floor (1), fit, and fix in place.
  11. Drill rivet holes in left rear-end floor (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm through existing holes in body (areas C).
  12. Remove left rear-end floor (1).
  13. Deburr rivet holes at left rear-end floor (1) and body on both sides.
  14. Remove drilling chips.

  15. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  16. Install and fix in place left rear-end floor (1).
  17. Rivet left rear-end floor (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 mm (areas D1 , D2 , D3 , D4 , D5 , and D6 ).
  18. Rivet left rear-end floor (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.4 mm (area E1 ).
  19. Left rear-end floor (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (areas E2 , F1 , F2 and F3 ).
  20. Left rear-end floor (1) POLARIZATION RESISTANCE SINGLE-ROW SPOT WELD (area G).

  21. Left rear-end floor (1) SHIELDED GAS SEAM WELD (area H).

    IMPORTANT Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.

  22. Install spring mount (2.1), fit with the straightener, and fix in place.
  23. Drill through rivet holes on the spring mount (2.1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (areas J).
  24. Remove straightener and spring mount (2.1).
  25. Deburr rivet holes on spring mount (2.1) and body.

  26. Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.

  27. Install spring mount (2.1) and fix in place.
  28. Rivet spring mount (2.1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (areas K1 ).
  29. Rivet spring mount (2.1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 14.5 (areas K2 ).
