IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating point on left rear-end floor (1) and separate (area A).

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = 40 mm

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  2. Expose spot welds on left rear-end floor (1) and cut out (areas B2 , C1 , C2 , and C3 ).
  3. Expose spot welds on left rear-end floor (1) and drill with a 6.5 mm diameter bit (areas B1 , C4 , C5 , C6 , C7 , C8 , and C9 ).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot weld on panels arranged one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses (area B2 ).

  4. Expose spot welds on left rear-end floor (1) and cut out (area D).

  5. Heat left rear-end floor (1) in cross-hatched areas.
  6. Remove left rear-end floor (1).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  7. Expose spot welds on spring mount (2.1) and cut out (areas J).

  8. Heat spring mount (2.1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  9. Remove spring mount (2.1).

  10. Expose spot welds on longitudinal member (2) and drill with a 6.5 mm diameter bit (areas E).
  11. Remove longitudinal member (2).
  12. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flange down to bare metal on both sides (area G1 ).

  13. Remove grinding dust.
  14. Apply zinc dust paint to mating surfaces in cross-hatched areas (areas H and F).

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G1 and G2 ).

    Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  15. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  16. Remove grinding dust.
