Since model year 2011, free map updates have been available for all new Mercedes-Benz passenger cars with COMAND/Connect 20 (code 512/527/531/534/547/548/549 +502  ) for a period of three years and for all new Mercedes-Benz off-road vehicles with COMAND (code EU1/EU2/EU4 +EX9  ) for a period of three (EX9) or six (EX6) years. The above-stated vehicles in the following countries are entitled to free-of-charge map updates, depending on the assignment:

A, AL, AND, B, BG, BIH, BR, BRN, BRU, CH, CZ, D, DK, E, EST, F, FIN, FL, FO (as of NTG5.5), GB, GBZ, GR, H, HR, I, IRL, KSA, KWT, L, LT, LV, MAL, MC, MEX, MK, MNE, N, NL, OM, P, PL, Q, RA, RI, RKS, RO, RP, RSM, RUS, S, SGP, SK, SLO, SRB, T, UAE, USA, V, VN, ZA

Map update before new vehicle delivery 

Since August 2010, the map update or the delivery map version check has been listed on the delivery inspection sheet for all new vehicle deliveries.

Map update during service visit 

All vehicles are checked for authorization during the annual service visit. Depending on the map version, the map update is performed during the course of service operations.

A corresponding test position is listed on the maintenance sheet under additional operations, and it must be accordingly selected by the Service Advisor.

Map update between service visits 

Customers can have their Mercedes-Benz Partner check the current map version on their vehicle at any time.

If a new map version is available, the customer can have the update installed at the Mercedes-Benz partner.

Order preparation, execution, documentation and cost settlement are done during the service visit, as is the case for the update.

How to update the map release is described in document AP82.85-P-8249U .

The map update takes approx. 1.5 h for NTG 2.5 devices, approx. 3 h for NTG 3.5 devices and approx. 2 h for NTG 4/4.5 devices.

For NTG 5 devices, the map update takes approx.1 h. USB sticks are used as data media for NTG 5 devices.

For NTG 6 and NTG 7 devices, the map update takes approx.1 h.

The update media are only intended for internal workshop use!

Settlement process 

The scope of work for the map update can no longer  be invoiced via damage code 8204X 01 for vehicles as of modification year 19/1 (code 800+502) or (code XN9). Please inform customers that they must perform the update themselves or at a Mercedes-Benz partner subject to a charge.

Customers can download map updates via the Download Manager in the "Mercedes me Portal" and then install the updates in the vehicle themselves using a USB flash drive.
