DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
  Preparatory activity     
1 Release parking brake.    
2 Lift vehicle with lifting platform.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR00.60-P-1006A
INSPECT Check     
3 Assess the wheel bearings by firmly tugging, pushing and turning at the wheels. If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
4 Check spring links (1) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
5 Check spring link elastomer bearings (2) for cracks, deformation and wear as well as for play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
6 Check tie rods (3) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
7 Check tie rod elastomer bearings (4) for cracks, deformation and wear, also for play by firmly pulling and pressing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
8 Check longitudinal members (5) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
9 Check longitudinal member elastomer bearings (6) for cracks, deformation and wear as well as play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

10 Check camber struts (10) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
11 Check camber strut elastomer bearings (11) for cracks, deformation and wear as well as play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.

12 Check shift rails (12) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

13 Check shift rail elastomer bearings (13) for cracks, deformation and wear, also for play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.

14 Check stabilizer bar (14) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
15 Check stabilizer bar bushings (15) for cracks, deformation and wear as well as play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
16 Check rear axle carrier (7) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
17 Check rear axle carrier elastomer bearings (8 for cracks, deformation and wear. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.		  
18 Check level sensor linkage (21) for correct seating, cracks, deformation, corrosion and play. Vehicle with level sensor linkage.
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

rectify the problems.

19 Check rear axle differential elastomer bearings (9) for cracks, deformation and wear. Model 177 with code M005 (4MATIC) with code U55 (Multi-link axle) except code U54 (Compound-link axle)
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

20 Check rear axle shafts (20) for cracks, deformation, corrosion as well as play by firmly pulling and pushing. Model 177 with code M005 (4MATIC) with code U55 (Multi-link axle) except code U54 (Compound-link axle)
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

21 Check outer drive shaft boots (17) for condition, leaktightness and correct seating. Model 177 with code M005 (4MATIC) with code U55 (Multi-link axle) except code U54 (Compound-link axle)
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

22 Check inner drive shaft boots (18) for condition, leaktightness and correct seating. Model 177 with code M005 (4MATIC) with code U55 (Multi-link axle) except code U54 (Compound-link axle)
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

23 Check clamps (19) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and correct seating. Model 177 with code M005 (4MATIC) with code U55 (Multi-link axle) except code U54 (Compound-link axle)
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.
