The following conditions must be observed when checking the oil level in the oil reservoir:
- The vehicle must be on its wheels.
- The check must be performed in a ready-to-drive condition:
- Vehicle ready for use with oil and coolant reservoirs filled.
- Fuel tank filled, if necessary, compensate for missing fuel by means of additional weight in trunk.
- Spare tire and vehicle tool kit in vehicle.
- Vehicle unloaded. Remove any luggage, fuel canisters etc. from the vehicle.
For vehicles with level control/ADS the oil level in the oil reservoir in a laden vehicle can also drop below the "min." marking on the oil dipstick.
