The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 247.6 for the most extensive repair. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously. The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install longitudinal member outer shell (1), fit using straighteners and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes on the longitudinal member outer shell (1) with a diameter of 6.7 mm (area A).
- Remove straighteners and longitudinal member outer shell (1).
- Deburr rivet holes on the longitudinal member outer shell (1) and on the body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
- Apply sealant to foam part in cross-hatched area (area C).
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas (areas B).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install longitudinal member outer shell (1) using the straighteners and fix in place.
- Rivet longitudinal member outer shell (1) with rivets with a diameter of 6.5 x 12.5 (area F).
- Longitudinal member outer shell (1)

- Longitudinal member outer shell (1)
(area G).
Inert gas weld in intervals and allow welding area to cool down in between. Reduces heat distortion.
- Surface grind inert gas weld on the longitudinal member outer shell (1) (area G).
Grind down flat only on beaded areas and contact areas of longitudinal member paneling.
- Clean weld joints no longer accessible after installing longitudinal member paneling and coat with zinc dust paint.
- Install new foam part in the area of the B-pillar.
