Inner B-Pillar Separation - Ar63.20-P-1350-01MFX

Model 247.6/7 

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 247.6. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on the B-pillar (1) and disconnect (areas A).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT Mark separating points along the Y-markings (areas A).

  2. Expose spot welds on the B-pillar (1) and cut off (areas B).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  3. Expose spot welds on the reinforcement (2) and cut off (areas C).
  4. Remove reinforcement (2).
  5. Heat B-pillar (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  6. Remove B-pillar (1).

  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  9. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (D areas).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
