Risk Of Injury Caused By Damaged Assemblies Filled With Refrigerant - AS86.61-Z-0001-01A
Model All (4xWD, CAR, Heavy transporter, Light transporter)
Wear protective clothing, safety gloves and safety glasses.
Potential risks
Risk of injury caused by refrigerant escaping from damaged assemblies filled with refrigerant under high pressure. This can lead to frostbite of body parts caused by escaping refrigerant. Risk of suffocation caused by refrigerants that are heavier than air.
Safety instructions/precautions
When working on assemblies that are filled with refrigerant make sure that the room is sufficiently ventilated.
Wear protective clothing, safety gloves and safety glasses.
Refrigerant in combination with open flames or hot surfaces can produce poisonous gases. For this reason, strong effects of heat on refrigerant major assemblies are to be prevented and smoking, fire and open flames are prohibited in the working area. A fire hazard also exists for non-flammable refrigerants due to traces of oil residue or insulating material in the refrigerant fluid.
Observe country-specific regulations.
First aid measures
Following inhalation of refrigerant, move the person into the fresh air, keep him/her warm, allow to rest and administer oxygen if necessary. Check breathing. If there is no breathing or insufficient breathing, the preferable action is to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If necessary, carry out CPR.
Following skin contact rinse the affected body part with water.
Following contact with the eyes immediately and thoroughly wash out eyes with plenty of water, making sure that the eyelids are open.
If any of these symptoms occur, consult a physician immediately.
