The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage, these steps must be similarly performed on the right side of the vehicle.

- Mark the separating points on the rear fender (1) (areas A, B and C).
Mark separating points along Y-markings (areas B and C).
The Y-marking is designed as a half-round disengagement shift tube in the are of the side window.
- Separate the separating points on the rear fender (1) (areas A, B and C).
Do not make the cuts too deep
Otherwise he components below can be damaged and weakened.
- Expose the spot welds on the rear fender (1) (areas D1 , D2 , E1 , E2 and F).
- Cut off the spot welds on the rear fender (1) (areas D1 , D2 , E1 , E2 and F).
- Cut adhesive bead between outer rear wheel well and rear fender (1).
The rear fender is bonded to the outer rear wheel well (1).

- Expose spot welds at rear fender (1) (areas G1 and G2 ).

Expose spot welds at rear fender (1) (area G3 ).
- Cut off spot welds at rear fender (1) (areas G1 and G2 ).

- Heat rear fender (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove rear fender (1).

- Remove remaining adhesive material in the outer rear wheel well area and detach loose adhesive material.
The height of the residual adhesive should be max. 2 mm.
- Repair bare spots in the outer rear wheel well area with primer stick (area H2 ).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust as well as milling chips.
- Apply zinc dust paint to insides of spot weld flanges.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas H1 and H2 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal on insides.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surface (areas H1 and H2 ).
