Remove/Install Wiper Arm - AR82.30-P-6100MFA

WARNING Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Move windshield wiper system to park position.    
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
3 Open hood.    
4 Fold up cover (3) of front passenger wiper arm (1) or driver wiper arm (2).    
5 Unscrew nut (4) of front passenger wiper arm (1) or driver wiper arm (2).    
6 Release and remove front passenger wiper arm (1) or driver wiper arm (2) with puller and thrust piece from windshield wiper system. SPECIAL TOOL Thrust washer M 10x1.5 Fig 2

  Installation of wiper arm driver (2)     
7 Switch on ignition.    
8 Set wiper motor (M6/1) to upper position with diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT The upper position is intended for installation of the driver wiper arm (2) only. AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
9 Mount driver wiper arm (2) onto drive spigot and align parallel with specified dimension (X) to the A-pillar. HAND-HELD TESTER Distance of driver-side wiper arm in the upper position to A-pillar *BE82.30-P-1005-01M 
10 Tighten nut (4) of driver wiper arm (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, wiper arm to wiper system *BA82.30-P-1003-01Q 
11 Move driver wiper arm (2) using vehicle diagnostic system to parked position and move back to upper position.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
12 Raise driver wiper arm (2) and lower it again. NOTES Raise driver wiper arm (2) before measurement and lower it again.
Measurement errors occur otherwise.
 
13 Check dimension (X) of driver wiper arm (2) relative to A-pillar. HAND-HELD TESTER Distance of driver-side wiper arm in the upper position to A-pillar
If the measurement value is outside the tolerance range,

replace driver wiper arm (2) and start again at operation step 10.

14 Move driver wiper arm (2) using vehicle diagnostic system to parked position.

  Installation of front passenger wiper arm (1)     
15 Mount front passenger wiper arm (1) for drive spigot and align after marking on the windshield. IMPORTANT The front passenger wiper arm (1) can be aligned slightly below or above the marking on the windshield.  
16 Tighten nut (4) of front passenger wiper arm (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, wiper arm to wiper system *BA82.30-P-1003-01Q 
  Final activities     
17 Close cover (3) on front passenger wiper arm (1) or driver wiper arm (2) then clip into place.    
18.1 Perform trial run of front passenger wiper arm (1) and driver wiper arm (2) using vehicle diagnostic system. If both wiper arms (1, 2) or only driver wiper arm (2) were/was removed.

18.2 Perform trial run of front passenger wiper arm (1) and driver wiper arm (2) without using vehicle diagnostic system. If front passenger wiper arm (1) was removed.  
19 Disconnect diagnostic system from vehicle. If driver wiper arm (2) was removed.
