Outer B-Pillar Panel Remove - Ar63.20-P-1222-01MFA

IMPORTANT

The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 177.0. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) and separate (areas A, B, C).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANT

    Separating points on B-pillar paneling (1) can be selected freely according to degree of damage. Ensure a sufficient distance of approx. 50 mm to the foamed areas.

    Dimensions:

    a1 : Approx. 15 mm

    a2 : Approx. 140 mm

    b: Approx. 80 mm

    c: Approx. 260 mm

    IMPORTANT

    Model 247.6/7

    Dimensions:

    a1 : Approx. 15 mm

    a2 : Approx. 140 mm

    b: Approx. 65 mm

    c: Approx. 160 mm

  2. Expose spot welds on the B-pillar paneling (1) and cut out (areas D1 , D2 , D3 ).

  3. Heat B-pillar paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT

    Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  4. Remove B-pillar paneling (1).

  5. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT

    Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Remove shavings and drill chips.
  7. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
