The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 177.0. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating points on A-pillar paneling (1) and cut (areas A, B).
Do not make the cuts too deep.
Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

- Expose spot welds on the A-pillar paneling (1) and cut off (areas C1 , C2 , C3 ).
- Expose spot welds on the A-pillar paneling (1) and cut off (areas D1
, D2
).
- Heat A-pillar panel (1) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove A-pillar paneling (1).
- Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Bonding surfaces may not be coated with zinc dust paint (areas E1 , E2 , E3 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
