	Remove
1	Remove rear axle shaft (1).		AR35.30-P-0620G
	Disassemble
2	Clamp rear axle shaft (1) before disassembling.	On vehicles with anti-lock braking system (ABS), do not damage the ring gear. Otherwise, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) will malfunction.
		Screw in two wheel bolts and clamp them in a vise.
3	Release and remove slotted nut (6).	The slotted nut (6) with turned groove has a left-hand thread.

4	Detach lock washer (7).
5	Press off tapered roller bearing together with bearing cap (2), radial shaft sealing ring (4) and compressed ring (3) from rear axle shaft (1).	The compressed ring (3) forms a unit together with the polyurethane sealing ring (8), the O-ring (5) and the radial shaft sealing ring (4).

6	Detach O-ring (5) from compressed ring (3).
	Assemble
7	Slide bearing cap (2) and compressed ring (3) onto rear axle shaft (1).	Pack cavity between dust lip and sealing lip with grease, apply light coating of grease to polyurethane sealing ring (8).
		Long-life grease	*BR00.45-Z-1001-06A
8	Press tapered roller bearing onto rear axle shaft (1).	The flange ring of the L-shaped bearing must point toward the compressed ring (3). Otherwise, the factory-set bearing play will become impermissible.
		To do so, heat up tapered roller bearing to approx. 80°C.
9	Lightly grease O-ring (5) and fit onto compressed ring (3).	Replace O-ring (5).

10	Apply grease to tapered roller bearing.

11	Position lock washer (7).	Replace locking plate (7).
12	Attach slotted nut (6).	On vehicles with anti-lock braking system (ABS), do not damage the ring gear. Otherwise, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) will malfunction.
		The slotted nut (6) with turned groove has a left-hand thread.

13	Secure slotted nut (6) with lock washer (7) at both grooves.	Secure slotted nut (6) so that both directions of rotation are locked (see arrows on axle shaft and illustration above).
14	Unclamp rear axle shaft (1) from vise and remove wheel bolts.	On vehicles with anti-lock braking system (ABS), do not damage the ring gear. Otherwise, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) will malfunction.
	Install
15	Install rear axle shaft (1).		AR35.30-P-0620G
