Remove/Install Driver Airbag On Steering Wheel - AR91.60-P-0663XG

WARNING Risk of injury  during testing and repair operations related to pyrotechnical components Do not expose pyrotechnical component parts to temperatures above 100 °C or 212 °F. Disconnect current supply when working on such component parts. AS91.00-Z-0008-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Move steering wheel (6) all the way up.    
2 Disconnect ground line from battery.   AR54.10-P-0003XG
3 Insert tool (1) into right and left opening (arrow) on steering wheel (6). IMPORTANT A suitable tool (1) would be a round bar of approx. 4 mm in diameter or a commercially- available hexagon socket, size 4 mm.
IMPORTANT When removing the driver airbag (4) for the first time, the steering wheel (6) must be pierced at the right and left opening (arrow).
 
4 Use the tool (1) to press each end of the spring (2) in the working area (a) far enough inwards to release the driver airbag (4). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT The ends of the spring (2) must audibly engage into mounts (5) of driver airbag (4).  
5 Carefully remove the driver airbag (4) then release and disconnect the electrical connector (3). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the electrical connector (3) engages properly.  
6 Dispose of removed driver airbag (4) in proper manner. When replacing the driver airbag (4).  
7 Install in reverse order.    
8 Check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) using vehicle diagnosis system. When replacing the driver airbag (4).
