Location
The climate control, control and operating unit is located in the instrument panel.
The interior temperature sensor (N22/7b1) is integrated in the climate control, control and operating unit.
Task
The climate control, control and operating unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Climate control LIN (LIN B8)
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
Direct line
The signals from the following sensors are read in via direct lines:
- Evaporator temperature sensor (B10/6)
- Left side air vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/31)
- Right side air vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/32)
- Left footwell vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/35)
- Right footwell vent air outlet temperature sensor (B10/36)
- Refrigerant pressure sensor (B12)
- Sun sensor (B32/3)
Climate control LIN
The air quality sensor (B31) signals are read in via the climate control LIN.
Interior CAN
The following signals are read in by the climate control, control and operating unit via the interior CAN, for example:
- Terminal status of terminal 15
- Consumer shutoff request
- Outside temperature
- Coolant temperature
- Vehicle speed
- Engine speed
- Door status
- Status of voice control system (up to model year 2017, as of model year 2017 with code EU4 (COMAND Online))
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Climate control LIN
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The following components are actuated:
- Regulating valve of the refrigerant compressor (A9)
- Rear window heater relay (F4kB) (except model 463.20/24) in rear fuse and relay module (F4)
- Heated windshield relay (F58kS) (with code F49 (Windshield, heated)) in passenger-side footwell fuse and relay module (F58)
- Coolant circulation pump (M13/5)
Climate control LIN
The following components are actuated via climate control LIN:
- Blower regulator (A32n1)
- Fresh air/recirculated air flap actuator motor (M2/5)
- Left air mixing flap actuator motor (M2/6)
- Right air mixing flap actuator motor (M2/7)
- Footwell flaps actuator motor (M2/15)
- Defroster flaps actuator motor (M2/16)
- Fresh air flaps actuator motor (M2/21)
Interior CAN
The following signals are sent by the climate control, control and operating unit via the interior CAN, for example:
- Interior temperature
- Idle speed increase request
- Engine start request (with code MJ7 (ECO start/stop function))
- Specified fan speed request
