Remove/Install Left Fuel Rail With Fuel Injectors - AR07.03-P-1050XGA

  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting,risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury  to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
WARNING Risk of injury  . Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove high-pressure line on left   AR07.03-P-1001XGA 
2 Remove the low-pressure line with service connection from the left cylinder head cover, fuel high-pressure pump and fuel supply line and place to one side with a connected hose connection   AR07.03-P-1121XGA 
3 Remove the engine suspension lug (2)    
4 Remove noise insulation (1)    
5 Release and disconnect the electrical connector of the CAMTRONIC cylinder 8 intake actuator (Y49/17)    
6 Release and disconnect the electrical connectors (8) of the fuel injectors of cylinders 5, 6, 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/8)    
7 Remove holders (10) between rail (6) and fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8)    
8 Mark fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) in relation to the respective cylinder When reusing the fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
9 Unscrew the screws (7) on the rail (6) NOTES
Unscrew the screws (7) alternately by half a revolution in each case. Start in center of rail (6) and work outwards.
Rail (6) will otherwise be damaged.
 
10 Remove rail (6) of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) and seal openings with suitable stop plugs SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 3
11 Remove fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) from cylinder head and seal injector well bores with suitable stop plugs   AR07.03-P-0004-03MM

12 Check fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) for external damage and replace if necessary When reusing fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
INSTALLING Install     
13 Clean fuel connections on fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) NOTES
For cleaning the fuel connections, hold downwards.
Otherwise, the fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) will fail.
NOTES
If the fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) are replaced, they must be installed immediately after the transport protection caps have been removed.
Leaks can occur otherwise.

14 Replace sealing package of fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) on rail (6)   AR07.03-P-0004-02MM

15 Replace sealing rings (11, 12) on fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8)    
16 Replace sealing rings (13) on fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8)   AR07.03-P-0004-01MM

17 Install fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) in the rail (6) and attach with holders (10) NOTES
If reusing fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8), these must be inserted into the cylinder in which they were installed before.
Engine damage will occur otherwise.
IMPORTANT Replace brackets (10).
 
18 Read off and note down injector injection quantity adjustment coding on fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) When replacing the fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
19 Insert rail (6) with fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8) in left cylinder head    
20 Tighten the screws (7) on the rail (6) NOTES
Screw in the screws (7) alternately by half a revolution in each case. Start in center of rail (6) and work outwards.
Otherwise, damage to the rail (6) may occur.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, fuel distributor to cylinder head cover *BA07.52-P-1001-01J 
21 Install the left pressure and temperature sensor (B42/2) in the rail (6) When installing a new rail (6). AR07.04-P-0201XGA 
    IMPORTANT Use new left fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B42/2).  
22 Connect the electrical connectors (8) to the fuel injectors of cylinders 5, 6, 8(Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/8) until they lock    
23 Connect the electrical connector of the CAMTRONIC cylinder 8 intake actuator (Y49/17) until it locks    
24 Install noise insulation (1)    
25 Install the engine suspension lug (2) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, heat shield/rear lifting eye to cylinder head *BA01.30-P-1003-01N 
26 Attach the low-pressure line with service connection at the left cylinder head cover, fuel high-pressure pump, and fuel supply line   AR07.03-P-1121XGA 
27 Install high-pressure line on left   AR07.03-P-1001XGA 
28 Read out and erase fault memory    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
29 Store injector injection quantity adjustment coding in engine management control unit When replacing the fuel injectors of cylinders 5 to 8 (Y76/5, Y76/6, Y76/7, Y76/8).  
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
30 Check fuel high-pressure circuit for leaktightness   AR07.03-P-1010-04MM 
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
31 Perform an engine test run, and check engine for functionality and leaktightness
