Separate D-Pillar - Ar63.20-P-2000-01XG

Model 463 

as of model year 2019 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service information as well as the safety information in the service information must be observed.

  1. Mark separating points on inner side wall (1) and cut (areas A, B, C).

    NOTES Do not make the cuts too deep.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 140 mm b = approx. 10 mm

    IMPORTANT Mark separating point in the center of the radius (area C).

  2. Expose spot welds on inner side wall (1) and cut off (areas D).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  3. Mark separating points on D-pillar reinforcement (2) and outer D-pillar (3) and cut (areas E1, E2, F).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply (area E2).

    Otherwise, the component part behind it will be damaged and the strength impaired.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    e = approx. 20 mm f = approx. 70 mm

    IMPORTANT Completely cut through D-pillar reinforcement (2) and outer D-pillar (3) (areas E1, F).

  4. Expose spot welds on D-pillar reinforcement (2) and on outer D-pillar (3) and cut off (areas G).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  5. Expose spot welds on D-pillar reinforcement (2) and outer D-pillar (3) and drill out with a diameter of 6 mm (areas H, J).

    IMPORTANT Drill out spot welds through two panel thicknesses (areas H).

    Drill out spot weld through one panel thickness (area J).

  6. Expose spot welds on outer D-pillar (3) and drill through with a diameter of 6.5 mm (area K).
  7. Heat outer D-pillar (3) in cross-hatched area.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  8. Remove D-pillar reinforcement (2) and outer D-pillar (3).

  9. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Areas of the plug welds and bonding surface may not be coated with zinc dust paint (areas L, M). Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
