Task
The brake light switch transmits the signal about the actuation of the brake pedal to the brake lights and in addition sends a signal for brake actuation to different electronic systems (e.g. Brake Assist System (BAS), electronic traction system (ETS), acceleration skid control (ASR), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), cruise control (CC), electronic in-line fuel injection (IFI), electronic distributor-type fuel injection (DFI), Common Rail Direct Injection (CDI), gasoline injection and ignition system (ME)).
Function
The method of operation of the brake light switch is subdivided as follows:
- Function as normally open contact for the brake lights
- Function as normally closed contact for control units
