Location

The brake force regulator is mounted on the left rear on the frame in front of the rear axle.

Task

Automatic control of the brake force in the wheel brake cylinders based on the load condition of the vehicle.

IMPORTANT A special maintenance service is not required. For settings, see repair instructions.

Function

A brake force regulator with variable changeover pressure is used for regulating the brake force at the rear axle. The brake force regulator is connected to the relay lever via the regulator spring, and the relay sensor is connected to the rear axle via a linkage. The pressures are the same upstream and downstream of the regulator up to a particular hydraulic pressure (changeover pressure). If the pressure upstream of the regulator rises, it allows only reduced pressure to pass to the wheel brake cylinders of the rear axle. In case of an increase in the rear axle load, the rear springs compress and increase pre-tensioning of the control springs via the linkage and the relay lever, and thus the relay point and the brake force of the rear axle.
