1	Unscrew the cap on the brake fluid expansion reservoir and suction off some brake fluid	In order to prevent the expansion reservoir overflowing when pressing back the brake pistons.
2	Remove wheel-and-tire assembly

3	Check lining thickness of brake linings (4) and check condition of brake discs

4	Remove retaining spring (1) on floating brake caliper (2)	If installed

6	Remove floating brake caliper (2)
7	To relieve load on brake hose, secure floating brake caliper (2) to vehicle free of tension	Do not detach brake hose, and do not tension or kink. Otherwise the brake hose will be damaged.
8	Remove brake pads (4)	Brake pads (4) must be disposed of as special waste. The local authorities can provide information regarding whether disposal is also permitted as industrial waste similar to domestic waste. Only sets of brake pads (4) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed.
9	Press piston back in floating brake caliper (2)	Resetting device	Fig 2
	Clean
10	Clean floating brake caliper (2) using brake caliper brush	Do not damage dust boots. This can otherwise lead to dust and contamination, which could prevent correct operation.

11	Install in the reverse order
	Check
	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
12	Press brake pedal several times and check brake system for leak tightness		AR42.10-P-0100-01A
		Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.
13	Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir, and correct if necessary
