1	Unscrew cap of brake fluid reservoir and extract some brake fluid	In order to prevent the brake fluid reservoir from overflowing when pressing back the brake pistons.
2	Remove the front wheels

3	Check the lining thickness of the brake pads (43) and condition of the brake discs

4	Detach left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) or right front brake pad contact sensor (S10/2) from feed line (52)
5	Drive out retaining pin (41) using a drift (035)	Drive in retaining pin (41) up to end stop.
6	Remove spring steel sheet (41 a)
7	Pull out brake pad (43) using extractor (070)	If brake disc, brake pads (43) are worn push back beforehand with pusher tool (031). Brake pads (43) are to be disposed of as special waste. The local authorities can provide information regarding whether disposal is also permitted as industrial waste similar to domestic waste. Only brake pads (43) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed as a set. Apply thin coating of brake pad paste to side areas (arrows) of brake pads (43).

8	Remove left front brake pad contact sensor (S10/1) or right front brake pad contact sensor (S10/2) and check for signs of damage	Replace faulty contact sensors.
9	Secure pair of opposing brake pistons using plastic wedges to prevent them from slipping out	Wedge	Fig 3
10	Press back the other pair of opposing brake pistons using the pusher tool (031)	Do not bend heat shield. If brake piston (47) is sluggish: ↓ Repair fixed brake caliper on front axle.

11	Remove plastic wedges and push back second pair of brake pistons

12	Clean guide of brake pads (43)	Do not damage dust boots. Otherwise dirt may enter the boot whereupon the function will no longer be given.
13	Install in the reverse order
