Function

In case of duo servo brake, the automatic brake adjuster between the brake shoes is freely movable, i.e. floating. It serves to transfer the control force (supporting force) from one to the other brake shoe and also as an adjusting mechanism.

For forward travel, when the brake is operated by means of 2-way wheel brake cylinder, the front brake shoe and, via the automatic brake adjuster as the transmission element, the rear brake shoe is pressed against the brake drums in the direction of the drum.

For reverse travel, the same takes place in reverse direction. Both the brake shoes are leading shoes for forward and reverse travel.
